Scout Days

Scout Days are opportunities for Scouts and their families to receive discounts on events with our community partners. Many of our partners also offer merit badge classes and advancement workshops for Cub Scouts and Webelos.


The National Weather Service Houston/Galveston office offers free Skywarn classroom and webinar training courses on how to spot and report severe weather. Scouters are invited to attend.​ Upcoming training sessions are posted here.
 


 

Bayou Land Conservancy is now offering free workshop opportunities for Scouts to help you earn advancement requirements in a unique manner while having a hands-on experience outdoors. iFLY makes the dream of flight a reality with indoor skydiving in a safe and fun environment. iFLY offers special rates and programs for Scout outings! Main Event offers all-access passes to Scouts. The pass includes four hours of unlimited activities (e.g., bowling, laser tag), two slices of pizza, drink, $10 card, and patch for $20.95 per person. A private room is available.

The Houston Gem and Mineral Society's Annual Show seeks to raise awareness of Earth Science Education activities in the Houston area and of the importance of Earth science education. Boy Scouts can work on the requirements for the Geology Merit Badge. Scouts will learn about general geology and basic rock types, properties of minerals and fossils, the economic uses of minerals, types of geoscience careers and requirements to enter this profession, and will be provided five mineral specimens to begin their mineral/fossil. Pre-registration for the merit-badge is required. Scouts should read the Geology merit badge book before the event. The Houston Police Department will be hosting its First Annual Local Heroes Family Fun Day. The event will kick-off with a special program, recognizing First Responders from Police, Fire, Military, Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) and Department of Public Safety (DPS). Attendees will see displays of SWAT vehicles, Mounted Patrol, rescue helicopters and boats, fire trucks, defense demonstrations, public safety presentations, a controlled car chase and a whole lot more!! Participants will get the opportunity to interact with local heroes and learn about their exciting careers. The event is free and open to the general public. Free parking will be available.
